Initiatives such as fundraising are an essential part of Reach for the Stars’ philosophy. Besides the obvious of helping an important cause, there are many other values to be learned. Children will learn to appreciate what they have and gain an understanding of their ability to help others. In addition, fundraising gives families a strong sense of community.
As a community we have chosen Unicef Wash Program, who enable the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water and sanitation. A donation box has been stationed at the entrance of the centre, so that families can encourage their children to donate a silver coin, a gold coin or even a note! In the process, we encourage you discuss with your child the effect of their donation to raise their awareness.
Additionally, we have partnered with the Bread and Butter Project, an artisan bakery, baking the finest breads made from organic and natural ingredients. Our bread is delivered fresh daily to the centre for the children to enjoy. Our support ensures refugees and asylum seekers are offered paid traineeships, a TAFE accreditation with opportunities to long term employment.
